Safer Space Policy
Code of Conduct

Last updated: June 11th, 2025

We are excited to welcome you to the upcoming Psychedelic Science conference. As organizers, our priority is to ensure a successful event for all, including creating an environment that is conducive to the educational and networking purposes of the gathering.

We all share responsibility for maintaining a safe and inclusive experience for everyone who attends Psychedelic Science 2025. By participating in the conference, you agree to abide by this Code of Conduct. This code supplements, but does not replace, any existing agreements between you, your organization, and the conference.

This Code of Conduct and Participant Advisory provides vital information to prepare you to attend and take advantage of the opportunities present at Psychedelic Science 2025.

Keep Dialogue Open, Balanced, and Constructive

Psychedelic Science 2025 encourages open and constructive dialogue about psychedelics. We are committed to a movement where everyone is heard, and we ask all attendees to observe, listen, and engage in discussions at the conference with respect, humility, and an open mind.

These conversations sometimes involve sensitive topics, personal material, and strongly held worldviews. From issue-specific workshops to dozens of community gatherings and affinity meetups, PS2025 offers attendees a myriad of options to share their personal knowledge, lived experiences, and opinions with one another.

Differences of opinion are natural and expected; however, all discourse must maintain a respectful tone. Please respect panelists and speakers by asking thoughtful questions when appropriate and expressing disagreements in sincere, collegial, and generative ways.

Respect Each Other

Our event is designed to be a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for everyone, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, political affiliations, or other characteristics.

Our participants come from near and far to provide their perspectives about a range of complex, sometimes high-stakes topics that are as personal to them as they are to you. Please do not interrupt them. Listen before you speak.

Help us maintain an atmosphere of collaboration and collegiality by treating each other with kindness, dignity, and empathy. Personal attacks, inflammatory language, or disruptions that interfere with other attendees’ experience are not welcome. Harmful behaviors such as threats, harassment, discrimination, unwanted sexual or romantic attention, or other disrespectful behavior are strictly prohibited.

Personal Responsibility and Safety

MAPS takes attendee safety extremely seriously. As with any large-scale gathering, it is essential to respect the boundaries of others and avoid acting without consent. Do not engage in any activities that may compromise your personal safety, the security and well-being of others, or the community at large. Everyone on site must wear their badges or credentials at all times. All participants will be required to pass through metal detectors to enter the conference venue, and bags may be subject to search for weapons or dangerous materials.

The Colorado Convention Center is owned by the City and County of Denver, and its management requires that all participants on the premises comply with all laws, ordinances, orders, rules, regulations, and requirements of all federal, state, municipal, and local governments, departments, commissions, boards, officers, and related entities.

The Colorado Convention Center provides a smoke-free, vape-free environment; the use of tobacco, cannabis, psychedelics, or other controlled substances is not allowed on the premises. Building regulations prohibit entry of any material, substance, equipment, or object that violates those laws, or is likely to endanger the health, safety, or life of any person.

Wellness and Harm Reduction

Psychedelic Science 2025 is grateful to partner with a number of allies who provide risk reduction, education, and other support and resources for people at the conference.

  1. Zendo Project

The Zendo Project provides comprehensive harm reduction education and support for communities to help inform and transform difficult psychedelic experiences into opportunities for learning and growth. Zendo Project’s trained volunteers offer specialized peer-to-peer support during challenging experiences, psychedelic-related or otherwise.

If you or another participant needs support related to a psychedelic experience or other crisis, they will be in room 705 on the following days and hours:

Monday 6/16: 9am-6pm

Tuesday 6/17: 9am-6pm

Wednesday 6/18: 9am-9pm (later hours)

Thursday 6/19: 9am-9pm (later hours)

Friday 6/20: 9am-6pm

If you have general queries or are seeking more information, you can also visit their booth #1006-1008 in the Expo Hall.

  1. DanceSafe

DanceSafe is a public health nonprofit that provides harm reduction services at music festivals, concerts, and other community events. Services include fact-based drug education, FTIR drug checking, distribution of reagent test kits and fentanyl test strips, and consent education. DanceSafe also supplies an improved fentanyl test strip to numerous state public health agencies, harm reduction organizations, and other institutions around the country.

If you or another attendee have confidential questions about drug checking, please find the DanceSafe Harm Reduction Lounge in room 506 or their booth #909 in the Expo Hall.

  1. Fireside Project

The mission of Fireside Project is to help people minimize the risks of their psychedelic experiences in ways such as providing compassionate, accessible, and culturally responsive peer support, educating the public, and furthering psychedelic research, while embracing practices that increase equity, power sharing, and belonging within the psychedelic movement. Fireside runs the free Peer Support Line for anyone seeking support during or after a psychedelic experience.

If you or another participant would benefit from Fireside’s services, you can call or text 7 days a week, 12:00p.m.-12a.m. MT at 623-473-7433. You can also download the Fireside app.

  1. Psychedelics in Recovery

Psychedelics in Recovery (PIR) is a nonprofit that gathers a fellowship of people from all 12-step programs and other paths of recovery who share their experience, strength and hope with each other. PIR integrates the use of psychedelics as a tool for achieving and maintaining sobriety. PIR follows a similar structure to traditional 12-step programs but adapts the steps to incorporate the insights and healing potential of psychedelic experiences.

PIR will be hosting open meetings on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday at 8am in room 507. You can also visit their booth #907 in the Expo Hall for more information.

Incident Reporting and Crisis Assistance

Several resources are available on-site for participants who need to report an incident or request immediate assistance.

  1. Security/Medical Emergency Services

For any matters requiring the attention of emergency medical, police, or other public safety services, please locate the nearest event staff, security, or volunteer, all of whom hold the requisite training and have a direct line to the appropriate services personnel.

  1. Incident Reports & Conduct Complaints

If the matter requires immediate attention, ask the nearest event staff, security, or volunteer team member to be directed to the on-site Event Management Staff.

For confidential on-site incident reporting of non-emergency matters, complaints about conduct, or requests for personal assistance not requiring police, security or emergency services, please contact the event management response center, which is staffed during event operating hours, by emailing info@psychedelicscience.org and including “Safety” in the subject line. Please indicate a preferred method for a reply.

Reports will be received, evaluated, addressed, and stored in accordance with MAPS’ practices. The safety and confidentiality of the reporting party is a top priority and will be protected.
